BHS Wrestling: Silva, Aztecs compete at H.S. Nationals
Comments 0 | Recommend 0VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. • Sultana’s 125 pounder Ryan Fillingame won two matches to reach the round of 16, and teammate Cody Bollinger is still alive at the NHSCA High School Senior Nationals Wrestling Championship on Friday.
Sean Silva (119), who wrestled up a weight class, lost his first match of the Junior Nationals to fall into the consolation bracket. He won two more matches before getting ousted to finish in the top 24.
Freshman teammate Drue Bosco went 0-2 at Freshman Nationals.
Fillingame, whose CIF State Championships was cut short due to a migraine headache, beat J.T. Gustin of Missouri 5-3 in the first round and Nam Dunbar of Virginia 11-5 in the second.
Bollinger (145) defeated Robert Chilson, who finished third in the Ohio Division III state tournament, 11-8. He then fell to Brian Herold, who was second at the New York Division state championships, 7-2 in his next match.
Both wrestlers will continue competing today.
