Flyers compete at Redlands

REDLANDS • The Silver Lakes Flyers Gymnastics Level 3 Team competed last weekend at Redlands Gymnastics Center. All the girls competed in all four events: floor, vault, balance beam, and uneven bars.


Pictured are the level 3 girls, from left to right: Kaylene Lawning of Barstow; Aryanna Hiatt of Fort Irwin; Kaitlyn Davis of Fort Irwin; Megan Myers of Barstow; Michala Maraccini of Silver Lakes; Grace Vaught of Silver Lakes; and Shayne Pennington of Barstow.


Myers took second place all-around, Pennington was third all-around, and Vaught sixth.
Flyers gymnast Jailyn Deering, of Barstow, has moved up to Level 2 this season and is quite proud of her third place all-around trophy.


The Flyers also competed at Level 5. Ten year-old Allyson Maples of Hesperia placed second all-around. She was second on bars and third on vault, beam and floor. In the under-9 division is Delanie Radtke of Barstow, who took third place all-around. Radtke was first on vault and floor, fourth on bars, and fifth on beam. Emilie Nursement of Silver Lakes received a 9.0 on bars and was first all-around. She was second on both vault and beam. Belicia Hiatt of Ft. Irwin is one of the Flyers’ youngest gymnasts at Level 5. In her first competition she placed sixth all-around. Leila Esquivel of Silver Lakes placed fourth on vault, beam, floor and all-around.


All the gymnasts who participated will be going to the Gliders International Invitational at the Ontario Convention Center.
