Angelcor wins at Showdown

POMONA • Boxers training under Manny Ramos at the Barstow Academy of Dance are starting to attract attention.

Last weekend, boxer Drew Angelcor improved his record to 7-3, winning by decision over Andy Garcia at the Sugar Shane Mosley Showdown, held in Pomona.

The Showdown featured 15 bouts of amateur fighters. Angelcor won the middleweight division,  earning a Sugar Shane Mosley championship belt in the process.

In addition to Angelcor, the promoters of the Showdown gave an award to the approximately 60 fans from Barstow who made the trip to cheer him on.

“They couldn’t believe that many people from Barstow showed up,” said Ramos. “It was a huge event and a great fight. Everyone was impressed with Drew; even the other fighters said he had amazing talent.”
