Political correctness and terrorism
It is disingenuous for Jerry Brown and others to wonder why “the word, on the underwear bomber didn’t get to the top.” The answer is two words, “political correctness.”
The litter from Obama’s inauguration had not been cleared away, when his administration started in on the CIA. They threatened to release all the pictures from Abu Ghraib. Yep! That would calm the Muslim radicals and cause them to have warm and fuzzy feelings toward the United States. They never did release them but the subject came up several times during 2009.
We have three Navy Seals on trial for roughing up a terrorist. How can we be at war with terrorists and not be allowed to rough them up? Can you just imagine the thoughts of our military in Iraq and Afghanistan? “Hey, can we shoot them or not?”
Do you remember the case of the six flying Imams taken off a US Airways flight in Minneapolis in 2006? The passengers heard them praying in the waiting area, shouting Allah, Allah, and cursed U.S. policies in Iraq, the Imams blocked the flight attendants in the aisle, and demanded seat belt extenders while it was obvious they didn’t need them. When they got them, they simply put them under their seats. That big buckle looked an awful lot like a potential weapon. The Imams had just been to a seminar on profiling and they were testing to see how far they could take their terrorist-like behavior. The Imams sued US Airways and got such a sympathetic judge that the airline had to settle for a undisclosed amount which all US Airways passengers are helping to pay.
Oh, and Minneapolis Airport plans to add a prayer room for Muslims. I would think that would be using public funds in support of a religion. (a liberal no-no)
Do not be surprised if the “underwear bomber” sues the airline that had him removed from the plane and the passenger who stopped him from finishing with his bomb procedure. After all, his civil rights were violated by the airline and his freedom of expression was violated by the passenger.
Now we have commissions to look into why the dots (lots of dots) were not connected. Gosh! Do you suppose the culprit could have been political correctness? Until all agencies can have assurance they will not be punished for pointing a finger, we will continue to have “security failures.”
In this instance, Obama is correct about inheriting a situation from the Bush administration. If political correctness had not paralyzed the Bush administration, the terrorists they are bringing to New York City for trial, would have been dealt with swiftly and they would be history.
