On squirrels, sewers and trains

Well, it looks like the powers that be in Barstow are still at it. Now they want to steal half of private property before the owner can build on it or hire some non-existing expert to catch and remove all the ground squirrels.

Having lived in the desert for 79 years and catching, raising and hunting them since I was six, I have learned a few things about them. There is no way to catch all of them and if they are moved they will come right back. They can only be so thick on a property then they move or die out.

Now they are going to build 25,000 homes at Waterman. Are they going to move the squirrels, chuckers, snakes, tarantulas? If so, where will they put them? Will they charge the builders $3,800 to subdivide each lot? Will they put in 25,000 septic tanks? Or will they send it to the moon? They can't even run the existing plant right, so what will they do with ten times as much? They will probably study it to see if it will just go away.

A new plant big enough to work will cost as much as the homes. Then if all goes well, Barstow will be wall-to-wall rabbit hutches with no desert left. But, I guess that is what they really want.

With the magnet train spoiling our view all we can see is houses and trains just to get the money out of California to Nevada as soon as possible.

If electric windmills spoil the view, what will this do? Except make Barstow bigger so the powers that be will be bigger, with more to study.

If Hillary or McCain get to be president they will give the country to Mexico anyway, so I guess it won't matter.
