Alvarez had it right ( “Give food waste to the hogs,” June 15): Fort Irwin brags about being green, then they pay a contractor to haul their garbage to the land fill. They could pay a pig farmer half as much to use it properly and supply more food for the people.
Then the state is broke — simply get rid of big government. Then 100 trucks an hour pass through Barstow all above the speed limit, half in the wrong lane, plus that many cars with trailers. That is $880,000 per day in traffic fines. What is the problem? I only went to Barstow High and I can figure that out — it would hire more cops and pay off the debt in one year without Arnold.
Then the paper is just a little prejudiced in its running letters from one person has a good experience with a local auto deale. Others get robbed by the same guy with papers to prove it and nothing is mentioned.

I applaud Manuel Alvarez. With other cities raising taxes and shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic, we could be a leader in America’s quest to be “green” and complete a food cycle within our city.
Say yes to Ms. Piggy.
