Barstow residents deserve explanations
Two longtime businesses close their doors. The mayor is suspected of sexual misconduct. The police chief seems to have become non-existent. The school district superintendent’s contract is not renewed for the next school year, so she resigns, but still gets paid for the rest of this school year. Sound like a plot for a fiction novel?
These are just some of the events that have taken place in Barstow in the last year and most of us are in the dark as to why. Why are so many businesses closing their doors? When and how are the situations with the mayor and police chief going to be satisfactorily resolved? Why is the former superintendent being paid for not working? To my way of thinking, when you resign from a job, you don’t continue to receive pay, especially in the current economic situation.
The citizens of Barstow are entitled to some answers, which do not seem to be forthcoming. Remember who pays your salaries.
