Single-payer healthcare

Here's my idea to fund the single-payer deficit of $200 billion. Using this "system" California wouldn't need to raise taxes, or create "fees" on anyone other than those who need to pay their fair share (sarcasm included).

Here's how you do it.

You create a pool of those people in California who have in their possession the ability and worth of over $100 million (entertainers, businessmen, politicians, union leaders, etc). Tell them that this "lottery" is their ability and privilege to help out their fellow man. You know, the garbage they feed us when they want to pass some bill or law to justify taking more money from us hard-working, blue-collar laborers. They will not only be idolized as California's benevolent benefactors, but it will, also, give us working deplorables the ability to see them, unselfishly, use their own money in order to practice what they preach. I'm sure the ultra-leftists like, Michael Moore, Sean Penn and Oprah Winfrey would love the opportunity to show their benevolence by donating $25 million every few years to help out their fellow man.

Every year, out of this pool, pick 8,000 lucky participants to fork out $25 million each of their money as their pledge to help make sure that no one goes without healthcare ... at least in California. Give them a piece of paper applauding their humanitarian efforts, which will exclude them from this benevolent obligation from the next year's drawing.

There you have it. $200 billion gap bridged every year. These people who tell you you need to give up your dollars will have the chance, nay the obligation, to participate and help out their less fortunate fellow man (or one of 56 other genders of person) to make sure everyone is covered by health care.

Global warming? Yes!

Is our Earth getting warmer? Yes, however, it’s not because of Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth” or his new movie, “An Inconvenient Sequel, Truth to Power,” which are both nothing more than self-aggrandizing, convenient lies. Indeed, the truth is, Al Gore’s scare campaign against global warming is his insidious therapy for losing the 2000 presidential election. Indeed, what will Hillary Clinton’s therapy be? Unfortunately, she is beyond therapy — steeped in bitterness.

Clearly, common sense tells us that President Trump withdrawing us from the Paris Climate Change fraud perpetrated by former President Obama is the right thing to do for America, as are his efforts to eliminate global warming government regulations strangling our businesses and jobs — exacerbated by California's governors and other states locked into global warming scams and economic tyranny.

Surely, the answer to all the hysteria is the reality that global warming/climate change is caused by the natural warming of the sun as its life-cycle heats up and consumes the Earth and all the planets. Indeed, in about 3.5 billion years the oceans will boil and Earth will be uninhabitable by any life. Unfortunately, the truth is — if we let happen, humankind will likely self-destruct millions and billions of years before the end of life on Earth.

So, why worry? Our only concerns should be to shake off and eliminate our enemies, and to live full, free, productive lives. Time is on our side….

Tolerance

What are Islams, Christians, Democrats and Republicans?

All are labels.

Labels allow hatred for each other.

With labels, peace will never be possible.

We must teach tolerance to replace labels, world wide.

Otherwise there will be wars.

Stop the bashing

When will it stop? When will Republican-bashers stop their tiresome rants such as the very "clever" comment "the scurvy dogs of Congress, AKA Repuglicans." And of course the oh so cute "vacation to Trumpland" wherein the writer spewed his ridiculous fantasies from his very fevered imagination. Then there was "the frighteningly unqualified Donald Trump was made President of the United States against the will of the American People." Oh really? I seem to remember that our president was duly elected according to our Constitution, which balances the gimmee, gimmee states with the states with more rational citizens.

On and on, Republicans are "heartless thugs given to falsehoods, vulgarity, rioting" and who knows what else. Whew! I can almost hear those unending sobs about the injustice of things not going their way.

And of course we hear ad nauseam about the lies coming from Fox News. Have these people actually watched that network? Sorry — regurgitating propaganda from other, highly partisan, sources doesn't qualify as news. And, anyway, just what are the "lies" so eagerly charged? Give us examples, please.

To all the haters — we're sick of your dark opinions. Please face reality and stop the negativity. But kudos to the Daily Press for actually tolerating and printing this drive for our enlightenment.

Dirty rotten scoundrels

I wish to thank the gentleman from Apple Valley for responding to my letter entitled "Scurvy Dogs." My creative juices were at a low ebb, but his rebuttal is like a big shot of adrenaline. I misspoke; I was being too nice. Repugnicans are mostly a bunch of dirty rotten scoundrels (DRS). There is no limit to their unethical rationalizing of every rotten thing our current Tweeter-in-Chief says or does. Leave 23 million without  healthcare to fund a tax cut for the rich: that's fine and just, or as Senator Heller of Nevada said, "That's a good start."

All the good economic times started on exactly Jan. 20. None of it was the momentum of the Obama years, right? Yes, our Tweety Bird was telling us how horrible things were economically and how the unemployment numbers were all a fake, that the real unemployment rate was more like 30 percent. But, now his supporters think all the figures are genuine and it's all Tweety's doing. In four months the Liar-in-Chief has created an economic miracle. It's very sad that you defend this tripe.

Readers, please consider: Do you like your Social Security, Medicare, healthcare for a pre-existing conditions, food stamps, Medicaid, family leave, maternity leave? Then, thank the Democrats and the Big Bad Government that administers it all. The dirty rotten scoundrels haven't done jack for the common man. They're only good at doing everything possible to obstruct any piece of progressive social legislation over the past 75 years. If taxes are so high and things are so horrible, why are there so many rich people and so much wealth in America? Mr. Apple Valley, when are you going to come out of your Fox News Cocoon and metamorphose into a caring, unselfish human being?
