BARSTOW • A man charged in the July 22 stabbing death of a Yermo man pleaded not guilty to murder charges at the Barstow courthouse Monday.

Matthew Lozano, 20, is charged with “willful, premeditated, and deliberate murder” in the fatal stabbing of Guillermo Landeros, 43. Guillermo was found suffering stab wounds to the neck in front of a house in the 400 block of West Williams Street on July 22 and later died of his injuries.

Witnesses at the scene of the stabbing saw a man believed to be the suspect run down the street and into a house in the 35700 block of First Street in Yermo, where Lozano was found in the attic and taken into custody by police.
