FROM STAFF REPORTS

BARSTOW • A woman was arrested for firing a shotgun at a house on Riverside Drive.

Teressa “Champagne” Mott was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, assault with a deadly weapon, and for failure to appear in court on a charge of unsanitary premises.

Victim Alphonso Williams reported that Mott fired a shotgun at his home on the 1600 block of Riverside Drive at about 8:41 p.m., according to a Barstow Police Department report. The two had reportedly argued shortly before the shooting.

A woman who was at the house suffered minor injuries due to flying glass as a result of the gunshot, according to the report.

Police found evidence at the scene, including lead shot pellets inside the house and physical damage to the building.

Officers found Mott hiding under a bed at a house on the 1700 block of Riverside Drive and arrested her later in the evening. As of Wednesday, she was being held at the West Valley Detention Center with her bail set at $265,000.
