Silver Valley school board to consider meal price increase, new principals
The Silver Valley Unified School District School Board will decide whether to raise the price for school meals during the next school year.
The district is proposing a 25-cent increase on all meal prices and a 20-cent increase for milk.
An increase in the price of food, milk and gas has strained the Child Nutrition Services budget, according to the agenda, and the government reimbursement programs are not sufficient to cover the costs.
The agenda states that many schools have had to increase prices and that Silver Valley offers meals below many schools in the county.
The board will also review nominations for vacant principal positions across the district. Final candidates for the position of principal at Fort Irwin Middle School, Yermo School and Tiefort View Intermediate School will be presented to the board. All these positions were left vacant due to resignations effective at the end of the 2007-2008 school year. The board will also be asked to approve Sandy Watkins as the summer school principal.
The Silver Valley school board meets in the Board Room at 35320 Daggett Yermo Road at 7 p.m.
