Police search for two more in bar shooting
BARSTOW • Police are searching for two more gang members implicated in the Saturday morning shooting outside Mollie’s Pub that left two injured.
Jesus Perez, 23, and Jonathan Vigil, 33, are members of the same gang as Samuel Weitz, 32, who was arrested Monday for the attempted murder of a rival gang member, according to police.
Surveillance video from the pub shows Vigil, Perez and Weitz entering the bar, police believe to confront their opponent, according to a report by the Barstow Police Department. After they left, the trio allegedly waited for the victim outside the bar and opened fire when they saw him leave. However, they missed the intended target and shot two patrons unrelated to the confrontation, police said.
Two men, 39 and 51, were treated for gunshot wounds to their legs at Barstow Community Hospital, the report said. The 39-year-old victim was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center as his injuries required surgery. Original reports had the second victim’s age at 71.
Police are seeking arrest warrants for Perez and Vigil, charging them with attempted murder as well.
The handgun used in the shootings has not been recovered. Perez and Vigil are considered armed and dangerous.
Weitz remains in custody at West Valley Detention Center. He is set to face his charges Wednesday at Barstow Superior Court.
