Three men accept deals
BARSTOW • Three men charged with assaulting a Barstow man outside Mollie’s Pub in September pleaded guilty during their readiness calendar Wednesday, court records showed.
Armando Perez, 26, Johnny Villegas, 26, and Mathew Villegas, 22, were sentenced to three years of supervised probation, according to court records. In addition, Johnny and Mathew Villegas were sentenced to 270 days in jail, while Perez received 262 days. All three men were credited with time served.
During their preliminary hearing in September, police testified that just after midnight, on Sept. 1, Perez and the male victim were outside the popular hangout when a witness noticed the two fighting on the side of the building.
The witness said Perez knocked the victim to the ground and he and the Villegas brothers began stomping him on the face. Arriving officers found the victim laying unconscious against the wall and his face was covered with blood.
Perez and the Villegas brothers are from out of town and were each facing a maximum of 9 years in prison if convicted at trial.
The plea deal marks the first resolution of three cases involving violent crime at the pub in a span of six weeks late last year.
