Sex offender arrested for child rape

BARSTOW • A registered sex offender will be in court today after the man was arrested for alleged sexual assaults on multiple girls, including a 4-year-old.
So far five victims came forward to police reporting Dwight “Albert” Kaczmar, 40, raped or molested them when the victims were minors, according to a report by the Barstow Police Department. The Desert Dispatch doesn’t reveal identifying information about victims of sex crimes.
Police arrested Kaczmar Friday after a 12-year-old girl reported he sexually assaulted her and a 4-year-old girl.
During investigation, three more victims, now adults, reported Kaczmar molested or raped them when they were children, as far back as 1988, said Det. Keith Libby. One was a family member who said she was sexually assaulted for years starting when she was 13. Two others were 10 and 5 years old when Kaczmar allegedly assaulted them. At the time he was dating their mother. These women didn’t report the incidents to police because of their relationships to him.
Police believe there are additional victims yet to be identified.
Police and court records show Kaczmar was twice convicted of sexual battery, in 1995 and 2002 — convictions that required him to register as a sex offender.
“The man is a predator,” Libby said. “There’s information that he may have been investigated previously for other charges than the charge where he’s a sex offender.”
He is currently being held at West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bail.
This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact Libby at (760) 255-5134 or the Barstow Police Department at (760) 256-2211. Those wishing to report anonymously can contact the WeTip Hotline at (800) 78-CRIME or visit www.WeTip.com.
