Comments 0 | Recommend 0

NEEDLES — Heavy rains in the Needles area caused the closure of the Interstate 40 at 3:55 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Both directions of the I-40 were closed after rain runoff washed out a portion of the freeway near mile marker 147. There have also been reports of flooding on U.S. route 95 near the Avi Resort and Casino and the Needles Highway has also been closed just north of Needles. There is no estimated time for repair and reopening of the roads, according to the California Highway Patrol.
