Second suspect captured in motel beatdown
Harris to be arraigned Tuesday in Victorville
BARSTOW • The second suspect in the brutal beating at Desert Inn Motel is scheduled to be arraigned at Victorville Superior Court Tuesday following his early morning Sunday arrest, booking records show.
Richard “Kaos” Harris, 31, was captured by Barstow police at 2:16 a.m. on the 500 block of Williams Street, according to booking records.
Harris and Lamont “Squirrel” Bluitt, 40, are alleged to have kicked and punched 59-year-old Barstow resident Michael Dudzinski in the head during an attempt to steal cash from him April 11 at the motel on Main Street, police said.
The assault left Dudzinski unconscious and suffering from head trauma, including facial bleeding, according to police.
Both men were charged by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office on April 16 with attempted robbery and assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, court records show — each a strikable offense under California law.
The two men were also charged with the felony of criminal street gang participation, court records show.
Bluitt, who was arrested the morning after the alleged incident and pleaded not guilty to all charges April 16, is scheduled to appear Tuesday at Barstow Superior Court for his pre-preliminary hearing, according to court records.
Both men are being held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga in lieu of $1 million bail, booking records show.
