Two markets cited for supplying alcohol to minors

BARSTOW • Police cited two markets on Saturday in a sting operation to determine if they would sell alcohol to minors.

Barstow Police, working with investigators with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, arranged an operation Saturday where minors — under the supervision of officers — attempted to purchase alcohol from 10 different businesses in Barstow.

Two businesses sold alcohol to the minors, according to a Barstow Police report. The two markets were identified as Country Corner Market at 1790 North First Ave. and Daily Stop Market at 1310 East Main Street.

Employees who sell alcohol to minors face a minimum fine of $250 and the possibility of 24 to 32 hours of community service. In addition, the business could face a fine and have their license to sell alcohol suspended or revoked.

Police also cited two individuals for offering to buy liquor for the minors, according to the report.
