Local artists show their talent
Steve Smith and Nancy Dodds, members of the Barstow Art Guild, hang oil, pastel and watercolor paintings, and photography, up at the Barstow Branch Library, Monday. Local artists submitted seven pieces to be displayed at the library throughout February.
According to Dodds, the guild’s secretary, the art will be for sale too. Each piece will include the artist’s contact information. Examples of art from the Barstow Art Guild can also be found at the Barstow Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mojave River Valley Museum. Dodds said Idle Spurs will showcase guild members’ art in April.
Smith, the guild’s historian, said the art guild is open to everyone. The Barstow Art Guild meets from 9 a.m. to 12 noon Mondays at the Elk’s Lodge at 1501 West Main Street. The art can be viewed at during library hours at 304 East Buena Vista Street.
