Call of the Wild

Dr. Mike Glassey, an entomologist at Fort Irwin, takes Orion, a red-tailed hawk, down from his perch to show children at the Dana Park Community Center on Tuesday. The animal presentation was part of the Barstow Branch Library’s summer reading program, which is designed to get children ages 18 and younger to read. Next week, Rafael and Katia, a comedy-magician program, will perform at the community center.
