Mobile home fire temporarily closes I-40

LUDLOW -- Both lanes of westbound Interstate 40 near Ludlow were closed for more than an hour Tuesday while firefighters fought a mobile home fire.

The mobile home fire was reported at 11:27 a.m. in the westbound lane of I-40, about three miles west of Ludlow, according to the California Highway Patrol Barstow area dispatch center. Both lanes were shut down at about 11:40 a.m. San Bernardino Fire Department spokeswoman Tracey Martinez said the mobile home was a total loss, but there were no injuries reported.

The fire from the mobile home also ignited some brush on the north side of the highway.

As of 1:05 p.m., the fire was out and one lane had been reopened.
