Fifteen candidates attending forum

BARSTOW • Barstow residents will get a chance to meet 15 candidates running for local, county and congressional races.

The Patriot Forum and Hi Desert Word Center will host a town hall candidate forum on Friday.

“In March we had a congressional debate. This is the first time we are having a candidate forum with multiple candidates from multiple races, including local, county and federal races,” said Christina Byrne, president of The Patriot Forum, Barstow’s tea party group.

All candidates running for city council, mayoral and school board races are scheduled to attend. They will be on stage from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Candidates for San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors’ 1st and 3rd Districts, and Congressional 8th District will be on stage from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Barstow resident Don Gray will moderate the forum, taking questions from residents.

“The residents have an opportunity to write their questions down when they arrive,” Bryrne said. “And the moderator will be asking the questions.”

Byrne encouraged residents to attend the forum to learn more about the candidates.

“That’s the main purpose of us putting it on, so the registered voters get to know the candidates and where they stand on the issues before they vote,” Byrne said.
