Man dies in rollover in Daggett

Two others seriously injured

This is an updated version of a story posted earlier on Tuesday.

 

DAGGETT — One man died and two women were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 early Tuesday morning.


California Highway Patrol officers responded to a rollover crash involving a 2000 Toyota Echo on westbound I-40 near mile marker nine in Daggett at 12:27 a.m., according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Division report. The front seat passenger, 79-year-old Horst Mahler of Cypress, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:29 a.m..


The driver, a 54-year-old woman, and an 81-year-old woman passenger were airlifted to an area hospital with severe injuries, said CHP Officer Taj Johnson.


CHP is investigating the crash but had no further details.
