Two Fort Irwin companies on deployment orders

FORT IRWIN - The 557th Maintenance Company and 2nd Heavy Engineering Transport Company have received orders to deploy to Iraq.

The exact date of their deployment remains classified; however, they should deploy sometime in 2007, said John Wagstaffe, public information officer at Fort Irwin.

The 1st Platoon of the 58th Combat Engineering Company from Fort Irwin has also received deployment orders to Iraq. Two Troops from the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment have been put on alert for possible deployment to the Arabian Gulf in 2007 as well.

Both the 557th Maintenance Company and 2nd Heavy Engineering Transport Company were deployed to Iraq in late 2004.
