City to hold public forum to discuss proposed rental rules

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

BARSTOW — The city will hold a town hall meeting to receive public input about the proposed residential rental ordinance at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Under the proposal, Barstow landlords could be required to register their units and have them inspected every two years.

Inspections would be performed by city code enforcement officials for $100 every two years. The inspections would be conducting using federal housing standards and are needed to ensure that both landlords and tenants keep their properties compliant with housing code, according to Jeanette Hayhurst, project manager for housing for the city.

The meeting will be held at the Cora Harper Fitness Center at 841 Barstow Road.
