Sheriff’s station seeks credit card theft suspect
BARSTOW — Detectives at the Barstow sheriff’s station are looking for information about a woman wanted in connection with the illegal use of a credit card.
Det. Gary Hart said the sheriff’s station has surveillance footage of a woman they believe charged more than $1,000 to another person’s credit card. The footage came from Wal-Mart, one of the Barstow businesses where the woman allegedly used the credit card.
“It’s kind of rare that we get the footage,” Hart said. “Now that we got a good shot of the person, the headache is trying to identify who she is.”
Hart said Wal-Mart matched up a list of transactions made at Wal-Mart on Oct. 20, including a television, movies and clothing, to surveillance footage. The woman was last seen driving either a red of burgundy Chevy Astro mini-van and is believed to live in Barstow, he said. She also made transactions at the Flying J truck stop, Jack in the Box and KayBee Toys in Barstow.
If captured, the woman could face felony charges of unlawful use of a credit card and grand theft.
Anyone with information can call the sheriff’s station at 256-4838. To remain anonymous, call WeTip at 1-800-78-CRIME.
