Fort Irwin man killed in Cajon Pass

CAJON PASS • A 20-year-old man stationed at Fort Irwin died of multiple injuries at about 3:45 a.m. Monday on the northbound side of Interstate 15 south of State Route 138 in the Cajon Pass.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene at about 3:30 a.m. for a vehicle that had struck the rear of a disabled tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder of the highway, according to a San Bernardino County Coroner’s report.Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The man’s name will be released when his next-of-kin is notified.
