Second man in custody for Mollie's Pub beating

Additional arrests expected for October fight

Staff Writer

BARSTOW• A second man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in an October fight at Mollie’s Pub that left one man seriously injured.

Cameron Maune, 24, was detained by Barstow Police at a residence on the 800 block of Second Avenue Friday afternoon.

“The arrest was the result of a follow-up by the detective division,” Barstow Police Interim Lt. Mike Hunter said Monday.

On Oct. 12, at 1:19 a.m., officers were dispatched to a fight at Mollie’s Pub where they located a male victim who had sustained serious head injuries, police said.

Witnesses said three suspects attacked the victim, slammed his head into the asphalt and kicked him with their boots.

All three suspects had fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. The fight was apparently a result of an earlier argument that occurred inside the bar.

The victim, who resides out of state, was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital and later released.

After being arrested, police said Maune admitted to being involved in the fight. He is currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on $100,000 bail, according to court records. Maune is being charged with battery with serious bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Wallace Davidson, 47, of Helendale, is already in custody for the incident and has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. His pre-preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, according to court records.

Barstow Police said they “foresee additional arrests in the future” related to the fight.

The incident marked the third violent crime in a span of six weeks in 2012 at the pub. On Sept. 2, three men allegedly assaulted another man, leaving him unconscious and his face covered in blood. Armando Perez, 26, Johnny Villegas, 26, and Mathew Villegas, 22, are due in court Wednesday for their alleged involvement, court records showed.

On Sept. 23, two people — including an elderly man — were injured when shots were fired into the East Main Street establishment. Four suspects were arrested for their alleged involvement. Eileen Vigil, 32, pleaded guilty to concealing a criminal in November and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and three years of supervised probation. Jonathan Vigil, 33, Samuel Weitz, 32, and Jesus Perez, 24, are expected in court for their pre-trial on Friday, court records showed.

The investigation into the Oct.12 fight at Mollie’s Pub is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call Det. Daniel Arthur at (760) 255-5183, the Barstow Police Department at (760) 256-2211 or WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
