Pole fire cuts power to parts of Barstow

BARSTOW • A power pole fire left 1,801 homes and businesses east of Barstow Road without power Thursday afternoon. The fire occurred at a Southern California Edison substation in the area.

The power went out at about 5 p.m. after a thunderstorm passed through the area. Power came back on for a few customers at about 6 p.m., but an Edison spokesman said officials don’t yet know when power will be restored to all the affected customers. The cause of the fire will be investigated once power is restored.
