Head of Barstow vets home moves to Fresno
BARSTOW • Jaime Todd, administrator of the Veterans Home of California Barstow, has left to take on the role as head of the new veterans home in Fresno.
The 300-bed facility in Fresno, one of five new homes opening in California, will break ground around June and begin admitting residents in 2012. Veterans affairs officials wanted Todd to begin working with the new home before it opened, according to JP Tremblay, spokesman for the California Department of Veterans Affairs.
The new administrator for the Barstow veterans home has not been selected yet, Tremblay said.
Deputy administrator Art Robles has filled in as acting administrator for the past few months as Todd began working with the Fresno home, he noted.
Todd, a Navy veteran, worked at the Barstow veterans home since Jan. 2008. The facility houses about 200 residents.
In addition to Fresno, the four other new veterans homes locations include Lancaster, Ventura, Redding and west Los Angeles.
