Barstow Police worked with Nevada law enforcement agencies Tuesday to arrest two men wanted in Barstow.
Tyron Lester, 40, was arrested in connection with a 2003 warrant for suspicion of battery of a police officer and resisting an officer by force. Dallas Eagle, 26, was arrested for suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child.
Barstow police officers Det. Keith Libby and Sgt. Andy Espinoza Sr. went to Las Vegas Tuesday to bring Lester back to California, according to Espinoza. Lester was arrested by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on June 18. Espinoza said the Las Vegas police arrested Lester after they received a tip on his whereabouts.
Lester waived his rights to extradition and was taken into custody by Libby and Espinoza at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Lester is accused of fighting a police officer and fleeing the scene after a traffic stop on Virginia Way in 2003. Espinoza said that officers investigating the incident discovered that Lester was a Las Vegas resident and was visiting family in Barstow at the time.
Tuesday’s second Nevada arrest came after Espinoza and Libby received a tip that Eagle was living in Pahrump, Nev.
The pair of Barstow police officers stopped in Pahrump to speak with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office about Eagle on the way to arrest Lester. Espinoza said he received a call from the Nye County Sheriff’s Office saying that they had Eagle in custody less than an hour after leaving Pahrump for Las Vegas.
“I was shocked that they got him and got back to me so fast,” Espinoza said. “I was not expecting that call. They had said they would look into it, but that was amazing. We got great help from the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and the Las Vegas police ... .”
Eagle was wanted in connection with the molestation of a five-year-old girl in Barstow. He is a registered sex offender and was previously convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old.
Eagle is currently in custody in Pahrump awaiting extradition to California and Lester is being held at the Barstow Sheriff's Station Jail.
