Robertiroz robbed at gunpoint

BARSTOW • A gun-toting thief hit Robertiroz Mexican Restaurant early Monday morning and tied up an employee before making his escape, authorities said.

At approximately 3:55 a.m., a Robertiroz employee reported to police he had just been robbed at gunpoint, according to a Barstow Police news release.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set Hispanic male approximately 5 feet 11 to 6 feet tall, wearing all dark clothing with a red towel or bandana tied around his face.

The employee told police he momentarily stepped outside of the business at 1628 W. Main St. When he returned, the suspect was waiting inside where he confronted the employee with a handgun, demanded his wallet and stole money from the cash register, according to the release.

At some point during the robbery, the suspect tied up the employee, Barstow Police Lt. Mike Hunter confirmed. The employee was able to free himself to make the call to police.

Officers arrived on-scene minutes after the employee’s report and were unable to locate the suspect, who had fled eastbound on foot toward Avenue H, authorities said.

No injuries resulted from the incident.
