The heat wave scorching the High Desert and much of the Southwest showed little sign of easing on Tuesday, with high temperatures throughout the Victor Valley and Barstow staying well above 100.

According to Joe Dandrea, meterologist with the National Weather Service, Tuesday's high in Barstow and Daggett hit 114 again, the same as Monday's high.

Victorville, which was 108 on Monday, hit 109 on Tuesday, but both Hesperia (105) and Apple Valley (106) cooled slightly from the previous day, when it was 108 in Hesperia and 110 in Apple Valley.

"There's a chance it could go a little higher (today)," Dandrea said, "but our actual forecast shows it slipping. I don't think there will be much difference."
