LENWOOD— A woman was rushed to the hospital after authorities discovered her critically injured in her home early Thursday morning.

Just after 5 a.m deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Barstow Station received a report from a woman who said she was unable to contact her 66-year-old sister for a few days and “was worried.”

Deputy David Johnson drove to the woman’s residence in the 34000 block of Western Drive in Lenwood to check on her. As he entered the home, Johnson found the woman emaciated on the floor and quickly summoned medical aid, officials said.

The woman was confused, malnourished and weighed an estimated 70 pounds.

Johnson later determined she had taken a serious fall and was in the same spot for approximately one week as she was unable to get up or reach her telephone to summon for help, officials said.

The woman was rushed to Barstow Community Hospital where she remains in serious but stable condition and will be transferred to a long-term care facility for rehabilitation.

The fall appeared to be accidental and anyone with information about this incident can contact Deputy David Johnson or Sergeant James Evans at the Barstow Sheriff's Station at 760-256-4838.
