Third arm missing

I agree with a recent writer who said buttoning cuffs while carrying a cup is impossible at 86 years of age. (See letters, May 8.) I wake up (near dead) from a dream of events happening 50 years ago to the realization that today is 88 years past my birth date.

Standing on one leg to put my jeans on is no longer an option. I sit on the floor and wiggle both legs in.

It takes all my strength to button the top button of my jeans. By 10 a.m. the jeans have stretched and fall off while mowing the lawn and carrying the coffee cup.

I put on a belt and they fall off again because of the extra weight.

I put on suspenders and they fall off because the clamps won't hold when I bend over to pick a dandelion.

I welcome solutions readers might have other than growing a third arm. I have already tried that with no success.

California

It is not quite fair to the people of California that our politicians are allowing our state to become another country. California, alone, is spending over $30 billion a year on people who have entered America illegally. Our California budget is $179 billion for 2017. As an American and Marine combat veteran who happens to be Mexican/Dutch-American we must close our southern border now.

Of that amount, the 1.1 million "undocumented" children who live in California take up approximately $15.3 billion per year for their educations. Education is all for the good; however, we cannot educate, feed, house, provide health care, for the needy of the world. That number is in the billions.

Mexico is the 11th richest nation on the planet (source: International Monetary Fund; World Bank, GDP-Gross Domestic Product List). It is not as if we are taking in the poor of the world, we are taking in a population that the government of Mexico "does not want, so they send them north."

To believe state Senator de Leon and others they want and will make California a "sanctuary state," which is a total outrage. We all must fight back against these professional Mexicans who don't care about California or America! Lastly, we spend over $4 billion for healthcare on illegal immigrants every year and crimes committed by the illegal population costs several billions per year.

This is not about racism, it is about a nation’s survival! They come here and scream racism, when the Mexicans know full well America is the greatest nation on planet earth, and that is why people from all over the world want to come here.

Two options

Re: "Religious Superiority," Daily Press, 05/09/17 ... According to Scripture, Jesus said that no man comes to the Father, but through Him. At this point, either He is telling the truth, or He is not. There is no third option. I understand that you can question the authenticity and accuracy of the Bible, but that doesn't alter the only two choices. Either that statement is true or it isn't. If it is true, then, by default, every other road to God won't make it and will be a fool's errand if attempted. If it (the Bible), or He, isn't telling the us truth, then we are left groping in the dark for the light switch, assuming there is even a light switch.

If the grave is the endpoint for all of our lives, then living a good life means nothing. Living a bad life, also, means nothing. Good and bad have no meaning. Whether I feed a million people, or eradicate them, in the grand scheme of things, it won't matter either way. But, you say it will matter to those left behind. Not when they reach the grave. When all is said and done our existence will be meaningless when that last flame of humanity, that last person, is extinguished.

What of all these other "religions"? That's the wrong question. The right question is, is what Jesus, or the Bible, said true or not? That's the question each one of us needs to grapple with. If what is said is the truth, then you have your answer. If it isn't, then you have a bigger problem of finding out which one, if any, is the way, because they all can't be the way, especially if one calls for the death of infidels, while another calls for their salvation.

You want to be an atheist, or secular humanist? I don't have a problem with that. I just hope you're willing to take the responsibility for your decisions should we be right. If you're way is right, we have nothing to lose in the grave.

It seems to bother you more that one is a Christian than, to them, that you are not.

Uncivilized and depraved

In the Middle East, uncivilized and depraved despot leaders like President Bashar Assad who are empty of God and His moral laws, have by hideous weapons of war and poisonous gas, murdered, crippled, disfigured and mutilated innumerable amounts of helpless adults, children and babies!

In America, uncivilized and depraved leaders, who are atheistic liberal humanists that are empty of God and His moral laws, have made it legal and paid for the murder and mutilation in the wombs of mothers, millions of helpless babies by hideous doctors’ instruments of death!

How much more can we become uncivilized and depraved than that?

Comey and the dregs of Dems

President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey comes as no surprise when considering the facts that Comey was an Obama appointee/operative, and two-faced Washington Democrats were screaming for his termination because he announced his investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails just before the election, causing her loss to Trump.

Indeed, something the Democrat Party dregs would not accept, particularly when they had already lost the Obama-driven Democrat-controlled Congress, which had done serious damage to America at every level.

Surely, the insidious non-stop Demoncrat-driven demonstrations, protests and riots throughout the nation to overthrow the Trump administration and Republican Congress — exacerbated by the Democrat media — is now heightened by phony accusations of a Trump/Putin conspiracy to rig the presidential election against Hillary Clinton.

Clearly, if Schumer, Pelosi, Clinton and George Soros looked the in the mirror together, they and America would see a glaring reflection, tantamount to treason….
