Winners of the 32nd annual Desert Heritage Writing Contest will be honored from 2 to 4 p.m. April 29 at an awards ceremony in the Barstow Community College gymnasium, 2700 Barstow Road, Barstow, BCC officials announced Thursday.

The public is invited to attend. There is no admission fee.

Students from fifth grade through college from all Barstow area schools were invited to enter the annual writing contest in three categories: fiction, nonfiction and poetry.

Winners will receive certificates or plaques, cash and prizes, and the top four place-winners in each age group will have their work published in a booklet to be sold at the awards ceremony, according to BCC officials.

The ceremony also will feature entertainment by Caliente Duo, refreshments for sale by the Callboard Club and raffles for prizes.
