San Bernardino County Supervisor Robert Lovingood invites former members of the U.S. military to attend the Fourth Annual High Desert Veterans Resource Fair on June 1 to highlight information on veterans’ benefits, job openings and personalized claims assistance.

Hosted by Lovingood, this event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 1 at the Apple Valley Conference Center, 14975 Dale Evans Road, Apple Valley.

It will allow veterans to meet with VA representatives who will be available to answer questions and provide one-on-one consultations. Lovingood said his staff also will be on hand to answer any questions and help troubleshoot problems.

“San Bernardino County does an excellent job serving the 114,000 veterans who live in our county,” said Lovingood, an Air Force veteran. “We have virtually eliminated veteran homelessness in the county, and San Bernardino County is the highest performing county for veteran benefits in California.”

Elected officials or representatives from the office of Rep. Paul Cook, State Sen. Scott Wilk, Assemblyman Jay Obernolte and County Assessor/Recorder Bob Dutton also plan to take part.

VA representatives will be available to assist with vocational rehabilitation, pension and compensation, education and other veteran benefits and services. Additional resources include assistance from the Loma Linda Women Veterans Healthcare programs and applications for veterans’ license plate designation. Vets who require claims assistance should bring a copy of their DD-214 and an ID card. The County Veterans Affairs Department will issue Veteran ID cards to veterans who bring a copy of their DD-214.

During the resource fair, veterans may enroll in the MyHealthEVet program, which allows veterans to track medical appointments, prescriptions, and email their doctors. Veterans may also enroll in the E-Benefits program to monitor the status of a claim, view and print benefit letters, and explore benefit eligibility.
