The Barstow City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 220 E. Mountain View St., Barstow.
Meetings are always on the first and third Mondays beginning at 7 p.m.
This week's meeting will feature a lengthy agenda. Items to be discussed include:
• Presentation of a proclamation to the Substance Abuse Free Environment (SAFE) Coalition in support of its efforts, particularly the upcoming Step-Up Barstow for Social Host Awareness Month in May;
• Consideration of acceptance of a Homeland Security grant for $9,500, via the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District Office of Emergency Services, to be used to purchase Hazmat protective equipment including six level A suits, four level A training suits, two full-face air purifying respirators with filters, a digital pressure test kit for level A suits and a 3M level test kit for the air purifying respirators;
• A protest hearing on unpaid and delinquent sewer and trash accounts;
• An update from consulting city engineer Brad Merrill on the road work in the Super Wal-Mart construction area.
