As 2016 comes to a close, residents across the High Desert will be celebrating the end of another year and the beginning of a new one as they ring in 2017 with extravagant parties and events.
While the Happy Place cannabis festival in Victorville will take place all day Saturday and into the wee hours on Sunday, the following events will be hosted Saturday night until the clock strikes midnight New Year’s morning for those interested in partaking in smaller gatherings to celebrate.
New Year's Eve Ball in Barstow
There will be champagne, dancing, dinner, live music, a balloon drop, party favors, an art show and more Saturday night at Hacienda Tequila, 29836 Old Highway 58, Barstow.

Green Tree Inn’s Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve Party
Taking a page from the best-selling novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the Green Tree Inn invites guests to come dressed in their best and classiest 1920s attire for a roaring good time as they welcome 2017 in style at their Great Gatsby New Year’s Party.
“We’ve always had New Year’s Eve parties hosted at the hotel, but this is the first year we’ve put a theme to it,” said Gladis Cuebas, decorator for the event. “We’re really excited for the community to come out and see what we’ve put together for a fun night. I think they’re really going to like it.”
The party is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. inside the hotel’s parlor with an elegant dinner set to take place from 6. to 8 p.m. Following the dinner will be casino-themed activities, a comedy show with Comedian JT Turner and a live performance by local band Be Okay as guests are invited to dance the night away. The party will conclude with a champagne toast at midnight to welcome in the New Year and will be wrapped up by 1 a.m.

John’s Incredible New Year’s Eve Pizza Party
Families looking to spend a safe and enjoyable night out with the kids as they ring in the new year are welcome to celebrate at John’s Incredible Pizza with a party filled with food, photos, games and fun.
The night will consist of an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet with salad and a dessert bar while children of all ages can enjoy a variety of ticketed and non-ticketed games to play as they attempt to win fabulous prizes. A photo station will be set up for guests to take silly pictures while IncrediBear may or may not photobomb you. Once the clock strikes 12, everyone will have the chance to watch the ball drop at midnight on the restaurant's big screen.
The event is set to take place from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m, with prices starting at $16 for the Celebration Package, which includes a buffet, beverages, free rides and game play for non-ticket games and New Year’s party accessories for the kids. El Pescador New Year’s Eve Party
For El Pescador Seafood and Mexican Grill, 2017 is looking to start off with a gesture of kindness as its New Year’s Eve Party will partner with the Don Ferrarese Charitable Foundation to raise money for the organization.
“This particular fundraiser, a portion of the proceeds will go toward the foundation and is looking to raise money for scholarships, which are handed out every year to students,” said event coordinator Dana Hernandez. “This our first time partnering with El Pescador and they’re a great restaurant and the event is for a really great cause.”
Guests are invited to dance the night away as the restaurant will be transformed into a fancy ballroom for a New Year’s Eve formal dance. The party also will feature casino tables, karaoke and live music provided by DJ Pulse and a chance to watch the ball drop as the clock strikes midnight. A full course meal and drinks also will be provided by the restaurant.

New Year’s Eve Party at Ricky’s Bar
Ricky’s Bar and Nightclub is looking to kick off 2017 by inviting guests for a night of socializing and celebration at their New Year’s Eve Party.
The party will start at 7 p.m. as entertainer DJ Angel will provide music and entertainment while drink specials will be available throughout the night. There will be a free buffet, along with a free champagne toast at midnight for all attendees.

12th annual New Year’s Eve Party at Cadillac Ranch Saloon
Those looking to celebrate the New Year with Southern hospitality and family entertainment should look no further than the Cadillac Ranch Saloon, which is saddling up for its 12th annual New Year's Eve Party.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. Party favors will be handed out to guests and there will be live entertainment provided throughout the night hosted by K-FROG radio with local country band Southern Spirit playing the hits. The night will end with a champagne toast at midnight as guests watch the ball drop.
"It's going to be a feel-good fun night with lots to do and great music to celebrate the new year," said Judy Foster.
