BARSTOW — Six artists were awarded prizes at the first annual Sense & Color Art Competition & Exhibition held Nov. 2 at Los Domingos Restaurant.

According to event organizer Stephen Stewart, 52 artists and 250 other people attended the event.

"I am happy to say my goals for the first year of this competition were met. One, to foster through art, the expression of each individual’s creativity, regardless of age, artistic skill or background. two, to provide a family-friendly forum in which to develop an appreciation for art," Stewart said.

The place finishers were:

* 17 and older - First place, Brigham Allebes (True Identity); second place, Sabrina Gilmore (Nefertiti) and third place, Nicole Monae (To Feel Alive)

* 16 and younger - First place, Daniela Eugenio – Shattered Art; second place, Laura Baez (Laynette 2016) and third place, Kieley Hainer (Amazon Wonder Woman)
