BALDWIN PARK • On Oct. 28, four Barstow Judo students traveled to Baldwin Park to take part in the Mojica Fall Judo Tournament. All four students won places in the tournament.
Five-year-old Isaiah Ochoa finished in second place with the silver medal in the 5-year-old Boy's Lightweight Division. Six-year Ariyanna Avalos competed in two divisions and won the gold medal in both weight classes, finishing with four wins and no losses. Eleven-year old national champion Isaiah Ramirez made a clean sweep of his age and weight division, with three wins and no losses, to capture a gold medal. Twelve-year-old national champion Elizabeth Wright also won all of her matches with two wins and no losses to take the gold medal.
The Barstow judokas are trained by 8th Degree Black Belt holder Ernest Smith.
