Teen still wanted for attempted murder
BARSTOW • A teenager suspected of shooting two others remained at large Friday.
David Green, 19, is wanted for attempted murder in connection with a shooting Oct. 2 in the 600 block of E. Buena Vista Avenue.
The incident, reported at 11:47 p.m., left Ryan O’Neal, 19, with a gunshot wound to his back and Darnay Scott, 20, with a minor shrapnel wound to his face.
It is believed to have been the result of a scuffle earlier that day, authorities said.
“We still are fully investigating it,” Barstow Police Department Sgt. Andy Espinoza Jr. said Friday. “We have had some leads — people calling in, saying we should check certain places.”
So far, those leads have not panned out. Meanwhile, authorities believe the suspect has not left the city.
“At this point, we still believe he is in Barstow,” Espinoza Jr. said.
Investigators believe the suspect and O’Neal were involved in a physical altercation at the scene approximately an hour before the shooting.
The suspect then allegedly returned, fired several rounds and fled on foot.
“(O’Neal) sustained some severe injuries,” Espinoza Jr. said. “Just the other day he was still being treated.”
He is expected to survive, according to Espinoza Jr.
Green is described as 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds. He has collar-length dreadlocks.
