Man sentenced in October burglary
VICTORVILLE • A man has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for stealing electronics from a Barstow residence in October.
Michael Shropshire, 43, accepted a plea bargain at the Victorville courthouse earlier this week and had a burglary charge dismissed after he pleaded no contest to amended charges of burglary and attempted burglary, court records show.
Shropshire was sentenced to one year, eight months behind bars, but he had 322 days knocked off for time served and good behavior, according to court records.
Shropshire was one of two men arrested for a burglary at a home on the 600 block of West Buena Vista Street, where two flat-screen televisions, a stereo, speakers and a Nintendo Wii gaming console were stolen on Oct. 1, according to previous reports.
After the Barstow Police Department Crime Impact Team served a search warrant, detectives located additional items positively identified as the victim’s property.
The other man arrested, 52-year-old Ivan Saiz, pleaded no contest in October to burglary and failure to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to two years, eight months in prison.
