Civil War Weekend

A plume of smoke rises as Union soldiers fire off a shot at Calico Ghost Town's annual Civil War reenactment on Saturday. Donnalee Simmons, one of the town's 300 role players, is the civilian corps director and has participated in recreating the town and battle scenes for eight years. Simmons said she enjoys playing the part of an 1860s woman and interacting with tourists. "They can finally see history coming alive," she said.
