Man found safely after Silver Alert
Loeffler was thought to possibly have driven through Barstow
A man suffering from Alzheimer's who was last seen Monday has been found, Redlands authorities said Thursday.
"(Eugene Loeffler) was located (Wednesday) at approximately 1600 hours," Natasha Crawford, a Redlands Police Department detective, said in a voicemail. "He seems to be OK."
No further information was available. A call to Redlands police Thursday seeking additional details was not immediately returned.
A statewide Silver Alert was issued for the 82-year-old Redlands resident at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday. Loeffler was last seen Monday driving away from his residence, possibly to the coastal city of Cambria.
"There's a good chance he came out through Barstow and then up (Highway) 58," Barstow CHP Don Spiker said, speaking of Loeffler's potential route.
Highway 58 connects to Santa Margarita and then about 40 miles of stretch on the 101 and 46 freeways will lead to Cambria.
The Silver Alert is established to issue and coordinate alerts quickly following the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of an elderly person.
