Karaoke
Newberry Springs American Legion Post 751 will be hosting Karaoke on Friday at 7 p.m. Come on down and enjoy good food and entertainment. Contact the Post at 760-257-3173 after 1 p.m. on weekdays for information, or after noon on weekends. Karaoke at the Post supports active duty and veteran's programs.
EBLL special elections
East Barstow Little League will be holding special election open to the public for the board position of Vice President on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Cora Harper Community Center’s modular room. Volunteers are also needed to fill non-board positions of chief umpire, equipment manager, and head of coaches. For information, call 760-590-2166
Dance at Barstow Senior Center
The Barstow Senior Center, will be holding a dance on Friday from 7 to 10:30 p.m., with music provided by Don Livingston. Donation is $5. Please bring a food dish to share.
Karaoke at the VFW
The VFW Post 2143, 25190 W. Main St., will have Karaoke on Friday at 6 p.m. until closing. Reminder that the Karaoke contest will be at the VFW Post and contestants please come down and show us your talent. The event supports veteran causes. For information, call 760 253-2610.
Mojave Valley Carvers
The Mojave Valley Carvers meet every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 8 to 11 a.m. If you have an interest in carving come to the Senior Citizens Center, 555 Melissa Ave. During the carving sessions one of the carvers will introduce you and show you around.

CERT training
The Barstow Fire Protection District, City of Barstow, and San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Service is presenting a basic Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training as follows on Saturday, Jan. 21 and 28 and Feb. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Barstow Fire Protection District Headquarters, 861 Barstow Road. Class is limited to 25 persons and any person residing with-in the district may participate. Class content: (Providing the best care for the most people), Disaster preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, CERT Organization, Disaster Psychology, Terrorism and CERT, Disaster Simulation For information, call Dale F. Little League Sign-ups
West Barstow Little League will be holding sign-ups on the following Saturdays: Jan. 21 and 28 at Fogelsong Park from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. A sign-up will also be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Route 66 Pizza from 6-8 p.m. Tryouts will be held on Jan. 21 and 28. The cost is $65 for ages 12-and-under, and $75 for ages 13-and-over. A birth certificate and proof of residency required. The Barstow Branch of the NAACP meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Browns Fellowship Hall, 1364 Riverside Dr.
Barstow Mall craft fair and mini swap meet
Barstow Mall is holding a craft fair and swap meet every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Space is free for non-profit organizations and all others are $5 for one spot or $10 for two spots.
