Local ROP students to be honored Monday
SAN BERNARDINO • Barstow High School student Simon Sanchez is among 14 who will be honored Monday for achievements made in the county’s Regional Occupational Program (ROP), according to a San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools’ news release.
Recipients of this year’s Distinguished Students Awards represent nine county school districts in 13 areas of career technical education focus, according to the news release.
“These students’ achievements are outstanding, and I look forward to being able to personally congratulate them on their accomplishments,” County Superintendent Gary Thomas said in a prepared statement.
ROP provides skills to students necessary to prepare them for post-high school careers, according to the news release.
Other High Desert students to be recognized include: Marissa Campos and Blanca Lopez from Hesperia Alternative Education Center, Karissa Hunnicutt from Sultana High School, Hunter Layton and Zachary McEachern from Rim of the World High School, Christopher Martinez from Rialto High School, James Williams from Trona High School and Ian Rosse from Lucerne Valley High School.
There are currently more than 14,000 students in the county’s ROP, according to the news release.
