Desert Heat Martial Arts Championships
On Saturday, March 5, students representing Gutierrez Martial Arts, traveled the 500 mile round trip to Blythe to compete in the “Desert Heat Martial Arts Championships.” Competition included katas, sparing, weapons, and
demonstrations.

Barstow Cross Country
Members of the Barstow cross country team are looking for sponsors for a trip to Australia for the Down Under Sports event. Anyone interested in making a donation for the trip can call Melissa Haefele at (760) 265-2453.

Barstow and Silver Valley played at home
BARSTOW 6, BIG BEAR 5: At Barstow, Billy McCall double drove in Robert Duran from second for the winning run in the eighth inning.

The Big Bear catcher blocked off the plate and tagged out Duran, but the umpires ruled it was an illegal block.

Pitcher Austin Crank gave up five runs (three earned) in 7 2-3 innings on seven hits and struck out five. Reliever Justin Teal only had to throw six pitches to pick up the win in relief for the Aztecs (4-3).

Barstow opens up league play on Friday, when it hosts Granite Hills.

RIVERSIDE PREP 3, SILVER VALLEY 1: At Yermo, sophomore Alex Ruiz allowed one unearned run on three hits to lead the Silver Knights.

Ruiz struck out 11 strikeouts and walked zero batters. Adam Munson collected a couple of hits for Riverside Prep (7-1), which is off until April  6 when it visits ACE.

Silver Valley beat Riverside Prep
SILVER VALLEY 9, RIVERSIDE PREP 8: At Yermo, the Trojans scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh innings to come back and defeat the Silver Knights.
The two teams went back-and-forth all game, with seven lead changes, including when the Silver Knights scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-5 lead, before Silver Valley exploded for four themselves in the bottom half of the inning.
 Riverside Prep (2-7) will play the Academy of Careers and Exploration on April 5.
