Aztecs fall to Littlerock
LITTLEROCK • The Barstow football team suffered its first loss of the year on Friday, falling to Littlerock, 34-13.
Some sloppiness in the second half cost the Aztecs, who were tied with the Lobos, 7-7, at halftime.
“They pulled ahead in the third,” said Barstow head coach Ray Silva. “They didn’t do anything special, we just didn’t respond. We didn’t do the little things right tonight.”
Oshua Rothwell took a hand-off and scored Barstow’s first touchdown in the first quarter, and in the third, Lario Welch returned a kick-off for a TD. George Gatti made good on an extra point. The Lobos got their last score off an interception in the fourth.
It was a disappointing result for a team that got off to a good start with a win over Adelanto last Friday.
“We have to execute on offense and we have to tackle better,” said Silva. “We need to go back to the fundamentals. We’ll go back and regroup and be ready for next week.”
The Aztecs hope to right the ship in front of their fans, as they play their first home game next week. Garey comes to town for a 7 p.m. kick-off.
