Barstow man killed in crash
CHP: Two vehicles collided head-on Friday in Hinkley
HINKLEY • A Barstow man died Friday night following a head-on collision in Hinkley hours earlier, authorities said.
Timothy Wayne Evans, 44, was driving a 1997 Honda Civic westbound on Santa Fe Avenue, east of Harper Lake Road, when he collided with a 1999 Toyota Camry, Barstow California Highway Patrol Officer Don Spiker said Monday.
The crash was reported to CHP at 6:10 p.m., according to Spiker.
A helicopter flew Evans to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died at 10:07 p.m., according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner.
The driver of the Camry, an unidentified 30-year-old man from Apple Valley, was taken by Desert Ambulance to Barstow Community Hospital with unknown injuries, Spiker said.
His condition is not known, according to Spiker.
“It’s unclear who was at fault at this point,” Spiker said, adding that “alcohol does not appear to be a factor.”
The CHP was investigating.
