BYAC hosts first Christmas movie matinee
BARSTOW • The Barstow Youth Advisory Council is hosting a free movie matinee at Barstow High School on Wednesday.
The BYAC is sponsoring the event because they wanted to do something for the children and “give back to the community,” City Clerk and Senior BYAC Adviser JoAnne Cousino said.
Cousino said the BYAC wanted to make sure every child in the Barstow area has opportunity to “enjoy and share the Christmas spirit.”
According to Cousino, doors open at 4:30 p.m. and various Christmas cartoons will be shown at 5 p.m., followed by the film “Elf,” starring Will Ferrell, at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be sold, Cousino said.
Cousino said she hopes this can become an annual event.
“The Barstow Youth Advisory Council’s purpose is to advocate the city’s youth with integrity and purpose, especially during the holidays,” Cousino said. “The BYAC began in 2009 and has successfully been the liaison between the children and teens of our community and the City Council.”
The event is being held at Barstow High School, in the new Don Bilsborough Gym, located at 430 South 1st Avenue. For more information call Barstow City Hall at 760-256-3531.
